Default MC radiator fan started coming on after turning car off

Hi all
We've have a Mondeo MC diesel for about 9 years and late last year the radiator fan started coming on after the car is turned off. It runs for about 10-15 seconds then turns back off again. No other issues I'm aware of - since then it's been driven Perth to Adelaide and back so I'd assume we'd have noticed if anything else wasn't working.

I'm pretty sure it started a week or so before I wired up a mirror-mounted reversing camera, front/rear viofo dashcam (hardwired) and number plate mounted led light bar, but now I'm doubting myself and wondering if I did something to cause the fan issue.

Any ideas?

Check the coolant level, it might be low, but not enough to trip a waning.

I'd say if its okay, in that, the engine isn't overheating in your daily usage, then it's just cooling down after you've shut it down, or, it's coming on because you've disturbed it part way through a DPF burn. (omitting an actual issue with the fan controller)

keep monitoring but I'd say for now it's still normal operation.

Thanks Cobrin. Coolant level is fine so I don't think it's that.

The thing that makes me think it's not normal is that it's never done it before in the 9 years we've had it.

Found the problem.

Reading some other threads to figure out an issue with my Falcon, I saw a comment about downloading Forscan, which somehow I hadn't heard of. Until now I'd only ever used the Torque-Lite Android app with my ELM327 adapter and didn't realise how much more info was available with Forscan

I also didn't realise Mondeos had an active grille shutter system until I found the DTC code P165B and knew immediately that it was caused by running the wiring for my light bar between the shutters. The shutter fault causes the fan to run after turning the car off.

Not sure I can be bothered re-wiring the light bar, so might see if I can trim the corner off the shutter where the wiring runs through so that it can close.
