hey all.. just need to bitch about something.
Tonight i received a $150 fine.. What for you may ask? "it is a crime to purchase a concession ticket on public transport without holding a victorian government concession card" but officer, i just finished an exam, here is my student i.d., and look i am in uniform.. i'm sorry but by this age you should be aware of the system. __________________________________________________ ___ Now i'm waiting to receive the $150 fine in the mail... Apparently i dont warrant a warning because i'm 17. Oh, and i just wear my school uniform around for shits and giggles.. Now come on i've never ever done anything wrong on public transport, no warnings no convictions no nothing.. i dont remember out of all the revenue made from tickets, they cant even send a brochure out to schools, or have a guest speaker or anything. Why doesn't my school identification prove i am a student! Oh and my word wasn't good enough for my name and address... Now, all was needed was a little warning, and i would gladly pay the $8.00 for a concession card... wouldn't have affected her day at all.. but it's okay, we'll give it a bash writing a letter of appeal when the infringement notice comes in the mail, from the anonymous officer who wouldn't reveal her name becuase she already flashed her badge once.. : is this all coming to.. at my last jobs wage rates i would have to work about 18 hours to pay this fine.. now i just have to count on getting out of it.. it's ok, its encouraging me NOT TO CATCH public transport but anxiously await the arrival of my P-Plates, yes another p-plater on the road... ----END OF SOOKING--- think its fair? cheers, santo

yeh i don't think that's too fair santo. why shouldn't your school I.D count and, your in a school uniform which makes it even more stupid.
I understand they have their concession card system which is fair enough but i think that should be applied to people after they have finished VCE and are studying at uni or TAFE. Surely a warning would have been sufficient, i was warned about 5-6 times before i thought it would be a good idea to get one. i reckon you got treated a bit rough there mate.

i agree its fair coz its their rules and policies, im just bringin into question what happened to a bit of "turning the blind eye".. assesing the situation and using moral judgement..
ive never got a ticket or received a warning.. that tops it all off.. ill be appealing it if it comes thru..

You mean student ID cards arent legal consession cards??? How dodgy can you get. Let me guess what you have to show to obtain the consession card, hrm your Student ID???
Sounds like the ticket collector had something up her *** that day (basing on you said you werent doing anything to ask for it).

Usually pretty easy to get out of. Write a letter, it's your first time, they shouldn't care.
I copped that a few years ago, didn't have a concession card when I went I got on the bus. Though never got a fine for it. Been pretty lucky on public transport, even got away with not having a ticket when the inspectors got on the train! |

You're supposed to have a Metlink issued concession card - a student ID doesn't count. They charge you for the concession card too. From what I recall, once you are 15 or over, you need a concession card

Ask your school about it, I know my school organised to have a heap of the applications sent off, unless things have changed in the last 4 years.

at the end of the day its my fault and i know it.. under the circumstances i feel its a bit harsh though...
school stamps them if you bring them to them, apart from that they don't want to have anything to do with it.. thanks all, just needed to get it off my chest..

Santo I use to have the same thing at high school. I got the train everyday and I was asked for my ticket many times without a concession card, and even when i had one they accused me once of making one up? I lost it and said you think I CBF making a fake one?
Ive apparently been fined 3 times but never got anything in the mail before And i know how hard it is to get one, as stations are never open, the people there stuff you about alot, the principal is too busy off trying to suck up to parents to actually sign the paper, etc
