Bathust: Drove GT there once (2003 GT Nationals, got to race down Con Rod Straight), drove there once in XR6 also to visit The Donuts (tm). MBFNW (tm): drove there once also in the XR6. Tasmaina, flown there twice, once as a child with family, once with Mr & Mrs XA-Coupe to be a Marshall at Targa Tasmania.

I've drive alot within Victoria but i rarely go interstate (other than SA). I've been to Hobart, Launceston etc in Tassie about 5 times, and i've been to pretty much every place between Mount Gambier and Melbourne, and Mt Gambier and Adelaide. I once went to canberra on a bus for a school camp. 13hrs later....

No further north then Bega, NSW, no further south then Wilsons Prom, Victoria, no further west then Adelaide, South Australia, & no further east then Bega, NSW.
I've lived in quite a few parts of country Victoria when I was a child before we moved to Melbourne, if that counts. I still count myself as a "country" guy, having spent a lot of my childhood growing up about a 20 minute drive away from Mansfield, Victoria.

First 18 years, born/grew up in the Dandenong Ranges, Vict, so saw most of Vic (should of been at school but didn't like it).
Since then, a damn lot of Sydney..26 moves in six years, so I won't bore people and name them all. Then in Qld, lived at the 'Burdekin Dam' and did alot of travelling while there to Red Falls, Townsville, Moreton Isl, to name a few. Canberra and wherever the ACT club take us _2: Brother lives at Buderim, so a few trips there, also to Hervey Bay, and Noosa. Easy way is I haven't been to WA or Adelaide.....it has been a wonderful experience for our children when they were growing up, and if anyone has small kids and can travel with them, then do it if the opportunity arises. better than any classroom. |

Also, in the other direction, Mt Gambier, Naracoorte, and all through the Coorong. Also been to the Barossa a fair bit and the Riverland: Berri, Loxton, Barmera etc. Been down the Yorke Peninsula to Edithburgh, Coobowie, Ardrossan etc. All driving.
All around Vic more times than I can count, including Melbourne, Phillip Island, Geelong, Great Ocean Road and Lorne and Portarlington, Warnambool. Been to Mt Buller and Mt Hotham. Through Horsham and Ballarat. Bendigo and Heathcote! Heaps of times to the Grampians and Halls Gap. Some driving, some flying. In NSW, have been to Sydney, stayed in Paddington with rellies a few times, been through parts of country NSW when I was a kid. Been to Armidale. Some driving, some flying. Qld, have been to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Gatton. Couple of times flying, once driving. Have not been further north in Aus. WA, Perth and Fremantle. Driven once, flown once. My turn!
Fremantle, WA - last year, first time on a plane sad hey. Loved the place, it's fabulous! Canberra - we drive there every couple of years, love the place. Scone, Newcastle, Wyong, The Entrance - sister used to live up that way. Outback NSW - various towns like Lithgow, Oberon, Mudgee, Dubbo, Baffhurst, Orange, Narandera (sp?), Cooma etc. Other NSW towns - Wollongong, Sydney (beaches and the Cross are vip), Bateman's Bay, Sussex Inlet etc SA - went to Adelaide, drove it across the desert. Decided to camp once we got there near the beach, and the biggest storm in 3 years decided to attack our tent and it blew down. All our belongings got soaked and we ended up having to rent a caravan... got to Glenelg, rode the tram, got really bored in SA and drove home in disgust, vowing never to return! We stopped when we went through Victoria at a place that had the best trees... flame trees. Lovely. Never been to QLD, Melbourne, NT or Tassie. One day I will get there. Then it's NZ and Europe.

Wow, this one got me thinking!
I've been to lots of places: Vic - pretty much all of it! NSW - too many times to count, including capital cities and smaller country towns, too many to list. SA - Adelade and small towns on the highway on the way. Once again a number of times. NT - Uluru/ surrounding areas. Flew up, drove back, stayed at many places in between Oodnadatta Track etc. WA - Perth and surrounds. Four times, have rellies there. QLD - Brissy, Surfers, Sunshine Coast, Hamilton Is. Too many times to count! Tas - All of it pretty much. ACT - Canberra... lots! I'm running out of places to go!! Last edited by Discovery; 20-06-2005 at 09:04 PM. |

Hmmmm....
WA - Most of the southern half and up to Karratha and Newman. Lost count of the number of times I've been across the Nullabor (Car passenger, driver, train, plane). SA - Most of the southern bit. NT - Up to Darwin from Alice Springs (gotta love those three trailer road trains!). All round Darwin (before it got blown away). Even got to go on the Ghan when it was running on the old tracks. Vic - Melbourne, Geelong, Anglesea, Lorne (as far as I got - ran out of time). Portland (flew there with work). That bit at the top you go through on the way from Sydney to Adelaide. NSW - Southern Highlands, a lot of the Snowies, up to Parkes and Forbes, Bathurst (twice, once while flooded), Broken Hill, Sydney and surrounds. Walked up to the top of Mount Kosiosco (before they renamed it to Mount Wheelbarrow). ACT - Canberra and surrounds. Qld - Brisbane. Tas - Where's that? |

although i only spent a short time in Perth and Port Headland, which will be rectified in 2007 when we go over for the GT nats. stand outs for me are: approaching Ayers Rock by car.........simply awesome driving into a secluded beach called twin eagles on the Gove peninsula my first game attendance at the MCG....Australia v Brazil soccer international 1999 and obviously being able to do stupid speeds on the Stuart Highway for mile after mile |

Road trip to Sydney (visit my bro and his family) via Parkes and Bathurst on way up, down the coast on the way back. Brilliant!! Canberra a few times (mostly via Cann River). Got rellies there. Bairnsdale in East Gippsland, folks live there. Future trips planned - Perth and NSW South Coast (my favourite place).

Ive been to Sydney and Melbourne more times than I care to remember. For work, usually arrive at 8am and fly out at 6pm... I hate it, never get to venture out of the CBD. Had a few 3 day visits to Sydney, also for work and will be spending a few days in Melbourne in august...
Beautiful cities, just wish i could visit for pleasure as opposed to business. Seen most of SA... south east, the west, bit of north...
