the EL box is a better box then the EA 4 speed. Its smoother and change's gears better IMO..
When my auto dies eventually (not now please! :P), Ill be replacing it with a EF/EL box.

Unless your EA box is worn or has issues, its not worth changing now, but good to keep as a spare. They bolt straight up.

I've got an EL auto in the EA, it will be pretty much a 100% straight swap in your case. Just a few differences to note like no dipstick.

apparently i have an AU series 2 auto behind my motor in my EA. thats what my mechanic told me anyway. so my guess is if AUII fits, then an EL sure will.

Just double check the bellhousing will line up, or swap them over.

the ea box has wider pump gears too, as in life we fit 91LE's to au's for cab drivers for better life but if you want smoothness then go a 93le (ef/el)
