Hey all,
Today after I work I walk back to my car... reverse out the car park and hear a huge CRUNCH and SNAP. First I thought my entire from bumper just got ripped off... I take a closer look and see those damn concrete block things, that are in parking bays. Look under the front of the car, and that plastic undertray thing under the front bumper is cracked and hanging! :S Anyhow, I've removed it. What the hell is it? What the point of it? and is it a problem that I've removed it? Also, if I require a replacement, what does one of them usually go for at wreckers? Thanks carpark  : |

It directs air flow from the clutch fan, prevents it from blowing straight out the bottom of the engine bay. I did the same thing ages ago, ripped it off and left it in the carpark at HJs.

Its is worth while to replace it, it does actually aid in cooling.

must get one for the fairlane (was missing when i got it) |

I think you will find "windage trays" are found in sumps, not below them....lol

lol i had some plastic guard at the bottom of the engine bay.... lost the whole thing when i hit a kangaroo... dont think it did much ne way

i found it helps keep rocks etc away from the belts & associated pullys.
i drove my car on a long trip without it. 1/2 way home my air con pully seized... may not be related, but still. in saying that, i don't have one at the moment.
