How do I check that?
It rocks a little in neutral, but all 4.0L do.

check if the engine moves much when you give it a rev.. or have alook under the car check if the rubber on the engine mounts is ok and not broken. i wouldn't think that it would usually hit the bonnet otherwise

Mine is clear, hasnt hit the bonnet at all, but I did have a broken passenger engine mount when I had my engine out ages ago, and is replaced, so neb may be on the right track i reckon.

Engine was out and fully rebuilt in November, so I'm hoping its not a broken engine mount, too wet today to get under the car and check.
I should note though the manifold was hitting the bonnet at the drag strip I assume during the burnout so maybe its just one of those things.

Would say its almost certainly a busted engine mount.
They aren't strong, I've broken several of them. I broke one once when I missed a 2nd-3rd shift. Engine tried to climb out of the engine bay and rocker cover hit the bonnet putting a nice big dent in it. Stupid crap. Only solution is to limit how much they can stretch. - John |
