apparently ford are bring ing out a new colour for the mk3 falcon.
i heard it is sort of a camillian paint where its starts as green goes to purple the to black,should be a awesome colour onthe gt's with camillian stripes with correspondng colours :evil3: |

i actually used to work for PPG, about a year ago i was talking to one of the R&D guys regarding the harelequin paint (the stuff that changes color) he was telling me how ford were asking PPG for something between harelequin and a normal metalic for their flagship model. Harelequin is about $1K per litre to make (the pigment is the expensive part) and you need about 2 litres to cover a car on a production line. I never bothered to find out what happened, but there was obviously interest from ford in these sort of finishes.
Ohh, and after seeing so much of harelequin during my time there i now hate the stuff. something to do with the novelty factor wearing off i think.. |

Hmmm, sounds interesting but unlikely. Methinks Ford will stick to the reasonably conservative colours for now at least.

Dont know if it was custom or not but I saw a BA in town today that looked dark blue but as we were going past color changed towards green to purple to blue. Had a custom number plate on it as well but cant remember what it was something like BANO1 I think.

I can guarrentee that this colour is under consideration and is currently named exactly that. There will be a major cost extra involved for this... about $1000 to $1500 extra on top of metallic paint.

Bear in mind this is not harlequin, it is a 3 colour paint, as opposed to regular metallic being a 2 colour paint. So depending on the direction of the light reflection you get a different colour/shade. It is a very difficult paint to get 'right' hence the extra cost.
You will not be seeing new Falcons with Harlequin which goes yellow, orange, green purple, etc.... Something like this....
