Default EL Futura Sapphire in manual

I just bought an EL futura sapphire, with the 4ltr straight 6, it has a manual gearbox which is original not a conversion.
Every ford website i look at says that all futura sapphires came in auto only, so is mine a rare one or are there plenty of others out there and also what month and year did the EL series 2 start.

I'm guessing that checking the codes on your compliance/build plate will confirm whether it's a factory box or not. Sorry but I don't know the codes :( But someone here will!

Friend of mine has an EL GLi Sapphire in Factory Manual so I would say it is possible.

From memory, the auto trans code on the Compliance Plate is H, manual is W (I think).

If you log into www.myford.com.au and enter your VIN details it will give you official ford factory records on your car including transmission type...give it a go.

K- 5 speed manual, floor shift
H- 4 speed auto, column shift
W- 4 speed auto, floor shift.

Also worth noting there was no EL Series 2, it was just an update. The change was towards the end of 1997, but not sure of month.

I have a factory EL Futura manual (not saphire). Something in my head is telling me all the saphires were EL Updates. The EL Update has a silver rocker cover, as aposed to black on the normal ones.

It sure looks like it doesn't it?

Nice car mate, a very good, clean base for mods.

I plan to modify it little down the track, first i need wheels, hopefully EL XR 16in or EL GT will do. Just glad its a manual as i was looking for about 6 months to try and find a good one. El futura in manual is so rare.
