Just saw a new XR8 add, pretty damn funny..
Silver ute, same set up as the old one car driving though a country town, but instead of chicks its dogs following the car. There all following the ute and the guy in the passeger seat "Hey mate i recon we should pick them up" then the guy in the driver side says "Na mate there dogs" Though it was hella funny :1syellow1 :

Offensive, to who? Dogs?
I can just see Rex writing to the censorship board now. And since when did women buy v8 utes anyway? |

Saw the ad before, very disappointing. Ford could have atleast come up with something new and a hell of a lot better, more eye catching but I guess that means they would be doing something right for a change. :

See this is the problem with people today !Its NOT DIRECTED AT ANYONE PERSONALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a bit of light hearted humour ! Dont get so worked up about NOTHING ! Do you think Blokes never get called DOGS ! Just by every jilted girl ! And the same goes there ! There are just as many jilted blokes out there . I dont mind the add myself ! It could have been done differently , but it wasnt !Who the hell woulda thought the Toyota "BUGGER" adds would have been so popular ! Maybe start your own advertising agency and win the ford australia contract if ya dont like it !

I happen to find the add OK. There is no content directed at anyone in particular, and is lighthearted. For anyone that cant see that, dont watch the add. Change the channel when it comes on. Same to all those people who complain about Big Brother. I dont like it either, so you know what I do? I just dont watch it. Simple.

I don't see the problem, it shows the product, talks about the updates and got you all talking didnt it?
FFS its an AD, its not mean't to be entertaining like a movie! In all seriousness who's going to say "damn i hate that ad, i wont buy an XR8 now"......

I havn't seen the ad yet, therefore I wasn't sure that was an actual ad
I have never been offended by anything so no matter how bad this ad is, I wouldn't care but just as described it sounds pretty average but I guess i'll wait till it shows before I pass judgement |

I think it's cos the one with the chicks caused a bit of a fuss, much like the AU salt lake one. So the sequal was having a bit of a go at the femenists that want to whinge about everything, like the sequal to the saltlake one was having a go at the go-slow-on-tv brigade.
maybe? well i laughed anyway, good add. -Stu |

jesus, lighten up guys! Like someone said if you don't like the add don't go and buy an XR8. Your obviously not the demographic! Whats another good car add out nowadays? The focus ones alright...ummm...anything else? Holden can't get past some sort of climatic phenomenom and a 20 year old soundtrack (not that there's anything wrong with Acca Dacca!). i stand to be corrected here by the way. -Stu Last edited by dogbreath_48; 06-11-2005 at 08:46 PM. |

I think it is funny. Not the best ad they could have made, but still reasonable. There is no issue in people taking offence to it at all, and if you do you must really love dogs........
The issue I have with it is that you won't really get the full effect if you don't think about the previous ad with the lovely women in it. Otherwise you can get the indirect humour.

I think the new Ford ute ad is great... It's great to see that there the is the continual use of the same characters from the start... In terms of there tends to more of a sense of a 'story' which has been shown over the past 5 ads.. And i agree with you stu, some people on here feel like that Ford can't do anything right.. maybe it would be nice to provide some constructive critism rather than just suggesting that fords marketing department "sucks" and "can't think of anything new"...

i think its crud...and no not because i prefer holden before that starts up
1) It wasnt funny 2) it showed what seemed to be a pretty basic silver ute - with little 'rumble' 3) Not enough time spent showing the car cabin - you get to see the characters and the guy do a downshift on the new auto....thats all. But really, pettiness aside, it was the poor attempt at humour which hurt it. |

Jesus christ you people are touchy! How about we just show it doing some burnouts with AC/DC playing?
Wait, that's it. Fat chick in the tray and Whole lot of Rosie blasting. The new BF Falcon ute. It's got unbelievable pulling power. |
