Default Diff Change Question

I found someone that has 2 brand new 4 pinion LSD 28 spline diff's.

They are 3.45:1 gears, with LSD. Apparantely Genuine Ford items too. Now will this fit into my AUIII Falcon Forte, with 3.08 SS.

Will the gears and LSD slot in to my 3.08 housing?

Thanks

Id recommend you talk to gear exchange in Sydney but you are in Victoria.

Look up GEAR EXCHANGE in Smithfield NSW.He is a nice bloke and you may very well get a good answer.

I'm pretty sure it will LG. In fact I'm 95% sure. I can tell you who will know the answer but you probably already know who I'm talking about.... :

Hrmmm, well they wont go.

Brendan said, that the LSD will fit into my housing, except the gears wont. What they do is use Commodore type like gears. And use a conversion kit or something.

Well I suppose that saved me 700 odd dollars.

A bit later down the track, i'll get either 3.45, or 3.73s, brand new.

Interesting that Jim Mock charge $1650, and most other diff shops charge $1100.

Thanks though

Well, at least you know now.

I'm n the same boat, the IRS gears can only go to 3.73 officially but Brenden has worked out how to cram 3.9's and even 4.11's into them now

Jim Mocks price is not too bad .I think 1100 dollars sound on the cheapish side of things. At least Brendan knows the cars.

Preston Automatics & Diff's would know a lot more, I think. They have stickers on nearly every second car, and nearly every worked car.

Haha no probs mate.Even I have heard of those guys and I live in Sydney. The diff gears will liven the car up abit and the 3.45 should be a good alrounder.
Cheers

As you now know, you cant swap 3.45's etc into 3.08.

All the housings are stamped with the same part number so you would think they would be the same but they are not. There is a number stamped on the centre, crown and pinion (its 0578 for 3.23/3.27/3.45), and as long as this number matches what is in the housing then it will fit.

Might be easier/cheaper to get another housing to dump the gears into (I got one for free).

Its even better when youre car is fitted with 3.45 standard shame about the open wheeler thing though.
But here in Sydney ive been quoted between $750-$2000 just to change my IRS 3.45 to l.s.d.
