Default Cooling resevoir

I was wondering how much the Radiator reseviors are worth. The big shiney thing with the Herrod logo on it. Like the one on the minginator. I did contact one place previously, but they make them only for BA and apparently, they won't fit an AU.

Thanks

Hey Buck,

Who did you contact as i would like to know how much they are, & where to pick one up for a BA.

Sorry to say.. but I doubt you'd get any response here. You're waisting your time. Herrods are too busy for time on the net.

Try posting in fellow sponsors.. BPT Motorsports forum. I know they have the S/S reservoirs for BA, don't know about AU. You'd most likely get a response from them, even though they're busy too. Link below.

http://norcom.net.au/~bpt/Cooling%20System.htm

Edit: Moved to AU Forums.

Do you need the sensor or not?

There's at least $100 difference between BPT, and the PWR one.

PWR's prices are GST exclusive

If anyone on the forums can weld i dont imagine it being too hard to make one

No idea. I'm just after the tank. How do I know if it needs a sensor?

it has a hole in the side (facing directly towards the extractors) of the header tank with a bung and a low coolant sensor. IIRC it only has a red and black wire.. Its quite a large thing, you couldn't miss it.. If there is nothing sticking out and facing the headers you dont need one

Maybe the reliability of the 8 warrants some extra monitoring. The TQE's just battle on as usual. :

Sorry bucky, mine has the wires. Mark it down as another item deleted from the later model AU I6's.

hmm im dissapointed my car missed out on the sensor. I guess they figure that the Fail Safe cooling will take care of any issues that may arise from a loss of coolant - but i still want to know before the car starts shuting down.

Well given the other guages in the AU2/3 XRs (oil and temp) were just there to look pretty it stands to reason that this was just another cost cutting excercise :voldar02:

Go the AU1 :P

Yep, the wagon AU1 has it, the sedan AU2 doesn't.

I wonder if there's an "official reason" ?

The sensors always break anyway and cost heaps to replace (for what they are)

I have bypassed the one in the mrs's car so the warning light isnt always on.

Ok , just looked in the AU2 falcon (not sure if fairmont has seperate manual) users handbook and the low coolant level warning is fitted to V8's only. Remember V8's dont have failsafe cooling.

I just had to replace my cooling tank because a crack in the top of mine was causing a nice mess in the engine bay and not to mention the dam sensor kept going on and off because of pressure problems. AU1...

Cost me $100 from ford themselves WITH the sensor ($70 without) but should have cost me $130 from them. I just went in with $100 and asked if i could pay the extra $30 by credit... theydidnt like that idea so gave it to me for 100

All V8s (should) have 'em whereas sixes don't. But it sounds like on AU1 the sixes had 'em also.
