A couple of weeks ago we had a huge hail storm heading our way, so I quickly rushed to get the FBT in the garage and the neighbour over the road help to tape down a doona over my car so it wouldn't get damaged. He used masking tape to hold down the doona.
I have washed my car twice and even used a special wax polish and cleaner to try and remove the sticky residue left over from the tape and it will not come off  : it's on the paint and not sure what to use now so the paint does not get damaged. |

Try eucalyptus oil. Its great for that sort of thing. Of coarse, try it first on some paint in a non visable location )like in the boot, or engine bay)

Next time you go to coles get "goo remover" It is a citrus based cleaner.. It can get chewing gum off seats so sticky tape is a walk in the park

WD-40 gets nearly any sticky stuff off as well

Thanks Tibbo I didn't think of that. You see I wanted to make sure I got the right stuff first before I try as I wouldn't hear the end of it if I got the wrong stuff and ruined the paint. Matt would not be happy. Trying to take care of my car myself without trying to have Matt help me out all the time.

Try one of the 5 orbital sanders Matt has in the shed - it'll have the goo and the paint off in no time... My tip is to use a fairly fine grade of sandpaper...*

Try Paint Doctor - I get it from SuperCrap and the stuff gets off most things - it wipes off the sticky residue left by pin-striping with ease, removes scuffs and light scratches etc and brings the paint up really nice.

WD 40, RP37 and eucalyptus oil are common around the house/garage any will work

My mate had the same problem on his ute a few years ago - the glue from the masking tape had actually crystallised with heat, my brother used to sell amway and we tried some of their "gel bug and tar" remover - came off without any trouble, but I am not sure if they still make the stuff at all... I still have two cans left, but not much in them... I loved the stuff - never seen anything I couldn't get off with it, yet still very gentle on the paints/plastics. iirc it is citrus based too, so maybe that is the way to go if you can't get this stuff...

go to any spare parts store or hardware store and get a can of prepsol. or wax and grease remover. its designed to get residues of paint.
