Default amp questionq

silly question... system has been installed for months.. now recently occasionally the subs will cut out for 1-3 seconds. this can occur at high or low volumes it doesnt really matter.. the speakers still continue to funtion normally..

there is a seperate 4 channel amp running the speakers from the monobloc running the subs...

anyone?

Look at your RCA's, they may be internally broken. Play some music and give the ends going to your amp a wiggle and see if it starts to cut out.

I second that. If one of the RCA's is crossing wires internally it will cause this problem. Also just check basic stuff like make sure your earth cable doesn't have a small stray wire touching the remote input etc. Also check nothing is cutting into the speaker wire causing it to earth out. Finally check if the actual RCA connector on the amp itself is not loose or broken in some way.

i had that issue with my 4 ch. turns out i didnt crimp the terminal on the ground properly and over bumps and hard take offs it would randomly cut out...it willl just be a wiring problem unless it happens when your staionary as well?

Santo do you have a multimeter? if so see if it has Continuity check on it.

if so just switch it to that and put one probe on one side of the RCA and the other probe on the other end of the RCA lead. Will tell you if you have a break in it anywhere.

As ^^^^ just said, is it when your car is running / driving or just sitting there with the car off?

lol does not make a difference.. can be sitting in the driveway... low volume as well..

im thinking maybe the internal fan not working properly, intermittently cutting out and then it goes into thermal protection?

coz i cant predict it, i cant see if the whole amp is turning off or power is cutting out..

Thats thermal Cutout or Protection cut out.

check that your power lead and Remote wire are not shorting out ANYWHERE in the car, even under the carpet or where you have fed the cable through the firewall.

if that is all ok then I would look at maybe getting it repaired?

Ive had a few customers come back complaining about this assuming it was the install when infact it was because of a dodgy amp. Caidence and Boss Audio are ones that I happen to have visit me on occasion :P

Did you install it yourself or did you have it installed Professionally? If you paid to have it installed I wouldnt touch anything and go back asap as if you play around with it your are voiding your warrenty.

If you installed it and have problems trying to find it, give me a yell and Ill see if I can come around and have a look

yea but that would normally be due to being played at loud volumes and you would literally feel the heat...

this happens at low volumes and even when car is first started up...

I think the kicker has a protection light, watch it and see what happens (but i doubt its this)

If your are confident your terminations and earth is good, i'd be suspecting RCA's/HU. Or the amp is cactus
