Hi everyone,
I accidentally put my Nokia 6230i through the wash (geezus). This was a nice phone in my opinion, and the nicest I've ever owned. Now they're available for 25% cheaper but I'm another phone if it's right. Can anyone suggest what phone they have a high opinion of? I'm looking for some nice calendar / organiser features, high res camera, bluetooth, infrared, fast menu, MP3 support for ring tones, etc. Any help appreciated, Andrew.

Good question - I like ones that just are. No flipping, no sliding.

Have a look at the Motorola L7. I had a 6230 (hated it) and upgraded to a V3 RAZR and I much prefer it. Since you don't want a flip or slide I would go the L7.

get a w800i. my gf has one, and they aren't bad. It's also easy to update with new firmware whenever sony ericcson does decide to update it.

I am in the same dilemma, i just want to update my old 6600 nokia.
I like the features on the N90 and the N70, but i dont like the size as they are biggerbthan the6600 that i already have. Here is a web site with all the info you need http://www.imobile.com.au I might check out the new Nokia 6280, it looks pretty good.

The D600 is the newer one, and IMO the better cuz its updated. (this one DOES give gobbies AFAIK e ) It has everything you're after and even though it IS a slide, due to the nature of the slide phone, you dont need to open it to take calls or make calls, or even go through the menus, becasue all the buttons needed are on the front face. I HATE Flip phones with a passion (I agree with you on that point). It annoys me having to fumble like an idiot to open them when thyre riinging, and it annoys me how long they are when open. They also give me the irrates trying to close them sometimes. The D600 I went against all my principles and got a non Nokia (First non nokia I've ever had in my 6 or 7 phone history!). I've had it for 3 months and I'm impressed, and happy with all its features. The slide is TOTALLY different to a flip, and is no trouble at all because you simply only use it when you want to type a message or a phone number thats not in your contact book. PC interface is easy to use (better than temporamental Nokia software), and mem card in the phone comes with a SD Mem card adaptor so its easy to send info across onto it with an SD card reader. If you dont use the mem card, then the phone hooks up to the PC Via Usb and Samsung software. Itll also copy info and print etc via bluetooth. Great Phone, I reccommend it highly. |

I've borrowed someone's old phone for the moment. Will go to a shop and have a look around. The 6230i had its share of problems which seemed to go away after a while but I won't ever get an LG. Someone I know got one and it had so many problems. We took it back to the store, just to see the dealer try and get to grips with it and we spent an hour sitting at the desk with him patiently and he had no idea. He would just go quiet and play with it for 5 mins at a time. He was going to contact LG and get back to us with some fixes and he never did.

An important requirement this time around is a call timer that auto-displays when you make a call. The Nokia didn't have one, you had to go through the menus to get to it while on a call. They don't think it through.

my brother recently bought a palm pilot thingy, it has a touch screen, camera, can surf the net and do the windows thing, about a week after he had it home he put software on it to do the gps thing , he had it sittin on dash showing a map as he was driving, but it was not giving directions(his gps software cost him nothing so has less features than the proper expensive stuff), but still seems to do every thing but give a blojob, its a nice size will fit in a shirt pocket has a huge screen, if he gets emails during the day he can look at it there and then, or put it in a cradle and look at them on pc, also does mp3 i think, plays music without phones amazing bit of gear, it it has the wireless thing as well, fairly pricey though, i`m not sure but i think it was upwards of $1000, i would like one but, i`m a clumsy git i`d drop it 5 times in the first day. cant remember the name of it ,think it was xede or something, i`ll ask him tonight, just another option :Reverend:
