I had a win today. Last night I spied a NL fairlaine sitting at a wrecker up here, so today I went back to check out its interior for a mate and to grab its door moulds for myself. Well the seats were the worst I have ever seen for leather. I wouldnt let a dog sleep on the drivers seat.
I talked to the owner and asked for the price on the side moulds. "Oh you'd be looking at $70 bucks mate" A little high but I told myself it was ONLY $35 per side and I could get a new indicator to replace the broken one on the passenger side cheaply. I inquired abut the interior door handles. " Oh..." I then informed him that the passenger front had a damaged surround "ohhh well $5 each?" Sold! I kept asking about more stuff. I think in the end he didnt want to think about it so he just did me a deal price. I left there with... -Side chrome moulds with 1 good indicator and one partially smashed one -4 interior handles, one with a cracked plastic part -the fairlaine interior light -4 of the fairlaine style interior lights (the ones that the whole light lens acts as a switch) -chrome handbrake button -2 rear window switches -front window switches in brown to replace the black buttoned ones I have now that I damaged the kiddie lock button rendering the back windows in-op. - and my favourite bit of all the woodgrain shifter surround All for a little bitmore than what it costs to fill my eb with a tank of premium! Most of the parts are for my car. the map lights are no use but they looked cool anyway. I already have a woodgrain shifter and chrome handles so I'm selling those to my mate for $20. I could make a killing on ebay but you know he's a good bloke - the sort that always has the jumper leads and theres the satisfaction of helping someone. So what has everyone else bought that the seller hasnt realised the true value of their goods??

17 inch AMG mags with brand spanking new tyres for some $50 extractors and a heavily used 2.5 inch exhaust..
I was happy. More so when it was a 3 inch and turbo which replaced it :P:P

I got a complete EF motor and 2 1/2 inch cat back exhaust, mandrel bent for 350. The motor was out of a burnt car but the only thing wrong was the intake tubing and some other rubber and plastic was melted. Im currently pulling it down and rebuilding it to bolt my turbo kit onto

I bought my EA SVO at a small car yard for $1500 :voldar02:
Then I gave it a wash and entered it in a car show a week later, I wasnt exactly sure of its value either until one guy offered me $6000 for it, which I beleive is still pretty cheap. I know another guy that has one and he's selling it for about $9000 stock. |

^^EA SVO ? Had no idea they were worth so much...nice work...nice pick up.
I bought a close ratio gearbox which the seller swore came out of the same model cars as mine - paid him $1000 for it. Turn out it wasn't....yeah yeah my fault for not checking before buying. Call the guy back...tells me i'm wrong...not his fault....tough t8tties.... Put it in the paper for $1200 bucks the next week.....and sold it ! Made $200 out of the deal minus advertising and some fuel costs... Now here is the funny thing. I ended up running into the guy who sold me the gearbox about a year later when he was working as a used car salesman at Robert Lane Honda. I just joined in their service department. He remembered me and asked me how I went with the gearbox. Told him he lied about the model car it came out of which he denied again - then I told him I sold it a week later for $200 more than I paid him. He didn't believe me.....KARMA baby.....that's KARMA |
