Talking Only an Aussie would think of this!

From the State where drink driving is considered a sport, comes a true story from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Recently a routine police patrol parked outside a local neighbourhood tavern. Late in the evening the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely walk.

The man stumbled around the car park for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity and trying his keys on five vehicles, the man managed to find his car which he fell into. He was there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off (it was a fine dry night), flicked the indicators on, then off, tooted the horn and then switched on the lights.

He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained stationary for a few more minutes as some more vehicles left. At last he pulled out of the car park and started to drive slowly down the road.

The police officer, having patiently waited all this time, now started up the patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and carried out a breathalyser test. To his amazement the breathalyser indicated no evidence of the man having consumed alcohol at all!

Dumbfounded, the officer said "I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the Police station this breath-alyser equipment must be broken." "I doubt it," said the man, "tonight I'm the designated decoy".

I did that in a mining town in SA some years ago - I did the old 5 mins to get the RIGHT key into the car bit while they sat in the carpark watching. I fired the car up and the copper blocked me off and told me "I wouldn't do that if I was you"
I politely asked him to move his car - which he did. I drove from Roxby Downs to Camp 1 (about 11kms) with his car behind me. Just before I turned to go into the carpark his lights came on and he pulled me over.
"your indicator wasn't working at the last corner Sir - please step out of the car and blow in the bag"
I chucked the "suspect" indicator on and suprise suprise it was fine.
I blew into the bag and blew 0.000. He shook his head and pulled out another unit. 0.000 again to which he lost it."You were in the pub for 5 hours" he ranted.
He shirtfronted me and threw me in the back of the cop car - drove me back to Roxby Downs to the medical centre where he demanded a blood test be done. Again - the results came back 0.000. He stormed out of the medical center and left me 11km's from my car at 3am with no taxi service.
He was stood down from active duty 3 days later.....

this actually happened to me at the Blue Gum hotel at wiatara NSW
I went in for a Hugh steak on the outback grill, we stayed for a few hours, i drank about 6 cokes all night, when i got to the car park i drove off , i was pulled over by a cop and he swears i came out of the pub and was drinking all night , so i blew into the tube and it came up clear, i i was then dragged to the cop shop at hornsby so i could be rechecked, i asked for my lawyer, he laughed and said \: dont be funny or we will arange for ur car to be towed away as well ect, so i went to the shop blew into another machine , clean as a whistle . they told me that they put a small sticker on all the cars parked at the club and knew i had been there for a few hours ( by the colour) i was there 3 hrs, then said Bye u can go to your car now... guess what i had to taxi it back to my car and then i drove back to the cop shop and droped a big set of black marks outside their door for the F#@k around ... i went home and to bed .

Really makes you wonder about stories of drink driving .........

I have not long found out that my ex b/f was driving on Sat night from the pub, the cops observed him & followed ..... he got out of his car & stumbled into his mother house.....

The cops followed & knocked on the door ..... he blew into the bag & went .2 ..... they could do nothing as he walked into the house ...........

The justice is ... where ???????

I have a slightly simmilar story from years ago....

In the mid 80s I used to own a Mazda RX7 series 2. The reason I bought it was because to the radars of the time (X band, 10Ghz) it was almost invisible. This was actually documented in the QLD police radar training manual of which my business partner had a copy. (ex police radar tech & trainer).
Radar detectors were not illegal back then either and my RX7 was armed with a Uniden RD-9.

A traffic cop armed with one of the old X band hand helds was near an intersection I was approaching from an angle and I had detected him several times and was definitely NOT speeding.
This was in Maryborough QLD cnr of Booker St & Saltwater Ck Rd and I was on Pallas St inbound to SCR.

As I got near him, he pulled me over. As I went to get out of the car a McCafferties Bus nearly blew me into the bush.

The copper wrote me a ticket for 83 in a 60 zone and would not listen when I tried to explain that he was detecting the bus, not me.
He got very irate and threatened to lock me up so I shut up.
I then took off after the bus, pulled up behind it at its next stop, got its rego, name of driver etc.

Next day I went into Maryborough cop shop and asked to see the OC as I was a bit ****ed off. I took with me the copy of the manual, my radar detector, my notes on the incident and parked the RX7 out the front.
He listened to my story, went and talked to the current radar tech based there and looked up which copper had written the ticket.
To my surprise he believed me and the ticket was annulled.

I found out later that the traffic copper had so many complaints against him from locals that he had his "radar certification" pulled. He subsequently had such a big spit at the OC afterwards that he soon retired for "medical reasons".

This was still the Joh era, when random breath testing was illegal, speeding was a sport and street marching was banned.

I suspect if the same thing happened today I would be jailed for "perverting to course of gathering road tax".
