evening all
Picked up a set of BA 17s to put on my EF. I have hub adaptors from my 18 inch Zenettis. heres the dilema- the lip on the adaptor wont fit into the 17s because the rims have a small ridge on them. The easiest way around it is to grind the lip off the adaptor but i dont really want to tamper with them. Should i take to the rims with a dremel or is it something best left to the pros? will also add that the adaptors are 37mm thick. is this the size commonly used with these wheels?

can't u just the the ba rims with the ef offset??
oh yeah, sorry, i have no idea about adaptors/spacers... I didn't insurance places liked em.. |

yeh mate i took the dremel to my rims actually. ground the lip a bit all the way round on the inside of the rim. then they went on perfectly.

Hmmmmm dremel, what not just take a hack saw to them, lol.
Guess if you have re-treads on them then go for it as they are already stuffed. Arent wheels the feet of your car, just as important as brakes, love to see how many weights are going to be stuck on them after you "dremel" them - so they are balanced. :1syellow1

everyones a comedian. _ point taken though.
I could see it being a problem if i was playing with the outer edge of the wheel but i doubt there would be a real balance problem with taking a little from the centre of the wheel. |

You could have bought Ba copies in 17" and 18" made to e-series off set which saves alot of muching around and keeps the insurance companies happy too

they were a good price so i jumped on them. Thought it would be straight forward. adaptors dont bother me, never had any hastles before. might still sell them and get my zenetti repaired

thanks for your reply hemi. I will probably run them until i can afford a better arrangement, without adaptors.

If you're going to grind the rim, make sure you do it very slowly, bit by bit. If you take too much off, the rims won't sit on the spigot (the round thing in the middle of the hub) and then weight will be taken by the wheel studs, which IS dangerous.
You also might want to consider re-sale, if you grind them, they won't be safe on an AU-BF....

the amount i took off was pitiful. seriously no more than a minute with the standard brown dremel grinding wheel.
