Default Some trimming

After seeing JETXR's dash and the suede trim on the plastic sections i thought 'That can't be that hard'

and so i tackled it myself

in the picture it looks purple, but i assure you its not purple, the suede comes up a weird colour in photos as its actually a real dark grey.

I've done the Dash top, A pillars and the top plastic trim on the dash (some not shown in photos)
it really makes the interior look more luxurious and i'm very happy with how its come up. The A pillars were ridiculously annoying and havnt come up quite as good, but i can handle it

Looks great John! Great job. It would probably still look better in the flesh (not being purple). Cool.

and, in your own opinion, how does your effort stand up with the likes of JETXR?

Would you get a better result removing the dash?

Looks very well done, was it hard to get the suede smooth?

I'd have to see it in the flesh I think to make a decision, it looks horrible in purple lol.

How does the suede colour compare to say the original vinyl on the dash, or the black dash surround?

great work there john, i thought of that with using my left over black vinyl, but thought it would be too hard. do you have airbags that would be obstructed. if they are even fitted to the passenger side??

Top effort mate! The grey, really shows it as purple. Maybe some different lighting will help show the real colour. As for an idea, some motor trimmers also offer to do the center console. They also offer to do under the dash, not just on the top. But that might getting a bit carried away. I'd say keep it simple, and not too much.

How about a clean of your car? lol

Cheers

LG: i intend to do the lot.

lower half of the dash, full console, door trims, roof lining etc.

i was just exited with the finish so wanted to post up the results

I'll have to see what i can do with the lighting to get a more accurate representation o f the colour.

When i was applying it to the dash, i found it was only JUST darker then the top 1/2.
how ever when applying to the A pillar it was a lot darker.

IMO my dash and top dash panel are probably close to as good as JETXR's.
his A pillars are deffinately better then mine, but the price difference keeps me happy.
all up whats done there cost about $25.
Removing the dash may have made it a little easier, don't think there would be improvement to be had in coverage though.

a lot of time required to get it all smooth, the suede doesn't like to stretch so it took a long time to get it sitting right.
whats done there took 2 days, having to wait for glue to dry etc makes it a slow process.

My cars a GLi so i don't have passenger airbag.
if i did, you could pop the airbag cover off and trim that seperately.

that looks great! its now got me thinking...I have always loved suede, IMHO it looks a lot better than 'leather' and it is quieter and grippier (IE, seats, steering wheel etc...)

Where can you get suede from?
