Just don't add a Comet, last time I saw two of these 'fighters' one of them was being murdered by a Comet.

I dont think you can put anything else in there especially a fish of the same breed, my brother in law has one and he said it has to swim by itself...

If you want them to display their fins really well, put a divider in the tank and put one on each side. If you want 2 mangled fish, put them in together! I wouldnt recommend mixing one with other fish.

I wouldn't add any other fish with it.

Does the bowl have any sort of filteration? If not, i would do a water chance at least once a week to keep the water clean and healthy.

BTW, i have got a murray cod i my fish tank, it ate 4 fish i one day. Unbelievable to watch. know my mates bring a 6 pack of beer and 6 goldfish around and watch to show.

My brother has a murray cod and he always wants me to bring round my fish so he can feed them to his murray cod. I won't because I paid $15 for my cat fish and will wait for it to die naturally.
I wouldn't add anything with a siamese fighter. I had one and it used to go everything. Even when a spider crawelled accross the top of its tank it was going nuts and jumping out of the water to try and get the spider!

haha lols at the spider...yeah the feed pellets say they will eat basically anything...but it also says dont add another male in the tank
does that mean i can add a female? and breed them lol

BA Bakes nah i dont have a filtration system, though the pet shop people said it only needs the water conditioners and a change every month or so....or use plants for oxygen, snails to remove the slime and stuff, cat fish to do what they do but cat fish and fighter dont mix.

Siamese Fighting and other south east asian fish come from the rivers around the mountains, and some can be found in the wild in small puddles of water surviving till the next rain period, which means why a lot dont need the filtration and filtering of other tropical fish. Siamese also have an organ in their head which allows some breathing above water

Having said that though, they will be much better off and your tank will look better if there is.

these fish live in WARM rock pools. temp is everything, living space isn't. the temp must be constant.

hiya people ,
regarding the Siamese Fighting fish yes you can put other tropical fish with them ,they are only agressive to another male siamese fish they fight till death so you can put a female in there with him but they are also very protective of there females and will attack other fish (not to death) that come near her.
l had a male and female siamese they are beautiful looking fish considering they are from muddy puddles in asian countries, they both got on well with the 12 or so fish i have , unfortunatly they were eaten by my sharks once they grew bigger than them .
there are plenty of books around and even ask your local aquarium's find a trusted one or one that you see is busy there are alot of shops out there that just sell you anything $$$$$$

hope this helps you out

alright so then dont add a comet, dont add another male fighter
female ok but other fish will suffer pain, dont have sharks in your tank
its ideal to have filtration/aerator? might need bigger tank for that though
and i know that they dont like cold water.. and my fish was living in a 3cm^3 cube and theres special tanks for them that are like a small tea cup.. so space is not an issue

also anyone know what type of food they eat?
the 'special' food pellets are a bit exy in $$$... i already feed him bread crumbs HAHA he ate most of it (only gave him 3 crumbs) and gave him a bit of rice ironic isnt it haha

thanks guys

Add the Siamese Fighting fish to my fish tank. My Murray Cod would enjoy the treat.

Siamese fighting fish should be fine with other tropical fish although they may attack fish with long fins like angel fish as they mistake them for fighting fish with fins spread out in fight mode.

Filter the water man. You will literally double the life of your fish, and you can now get those special undergravel filters for the bowls from your local aquarium place. Nitrate, Nitrite and Ammonia are all fishes' mortal enemy, concentrations of any of these can kill. A good biological filter will mean that you can avoid having to change the water every couple of days, and it will eliminate rising levels of toxins which will cause the fish stress. Additionally, a fish under stress will not show all of its fins and will also try to hide. I have a rather large marine aquarium which is low maintenance, as it has a large sump filter, as well as heater, UV steriliser and Chiller in order to keep temperature and water conditions constant. But I stress it is only low maintenance because I have excellent filtration.

Anyway, I think the filter you need is about 15 dollars, air pump about 20 dollars. You put it under your gravel and pump air into it.

If you want your fighting fish to display its fins and dont want another fish to look after put a mirror in the existing tank and watch it go nuts.
