i finally changed my leads, Top Gun max 300, cleaned the 02 sensor as well the car goes alot better. My fuel economy seems heaps better i got 255km's last nite out of half a tank. Better than 195-200km's i used to get. My distance to empty would never go past the 480 mark, now its close to 600.

My fairmont was getting 450k's per tank I changed the o2 sensor and put on a 2.5" exhaust and reset ecu
I got about 450 from the tank week after and then I filled up yesterday and at the moment range k's + k's travelled = 650! that's driving through suburbia. I'm pretty impressed very worthwhile doing. |

O2 sensor changing is one of the most under-rated service procedures. If your car has done over 100000k, change it and you will be amazed. I just changed mine at 65K and had measureable results.

I think cleaning an O2 sensor is like straining sour milk - you may get rid of the lumps, but it's still off. It may make a difference for a week or two, but they really are a wear out item and should be replaced when worn.

Would love to see a full write up on this. I have 0 idea, but would rather fit new leads, etc myself than have someone else do it (well at least they would tell me they did it)
But i need easy to read things, with pictures !!!! Also a suggestion on brands would be good, plus equiptment needed !

well i got 425km's out of a tank. And i punched it quite a few times last saturday nite on the E series cruise. Yeah it took a week to get through a tank i dont do much driving. Its bettter than before by about 50km's which aint to bad, i reckon i can get it better with a aftermarket computer or decent dyno tune.

Well I just got mine in. These efi guys are good its a genuine bosch unit ant seize greased up and ready to go with std AU-BA plug.
Honestly hasn't made a bit of difference so probably my five year old original one was still well within it's working life. Still with petrol cost so high it was worth a try. |

I've decided to give mine a bit of a clean up and as previously mentioned, it might not improve anything but it's worth a go, especially with the high cost of fuel these days.
My only problem is that I don't have any "Antiseize" at home and was wondering if there is anything else that is a good substitute for it. If not, I'll just wait till I go into town and get the right stuff before going ahead. |
