It is time for a little cosmetic touching up around the edges - are all AUs the same version of white? What is it called?
And what is the shade of black on the pillars, and who makes it in affordable amounts? Thanks

Try using the 'search' function, it works well...
This is from the Technical Resources section anyway, you'll have to check your paint code on the build plate under the bonnet, there's a few different ones. Thanks for clearing that up. I was having a lot of trouble identifying the colour reference on the vehicle plates.
Now, any idea on the black bits? :voldar02:

I'd be interested to know about this - lots of little chips from rings etc. |

Sorry, I did mean the outside black paint.
It does look like rings, luggage, etc and maybe the seatbelt have chipped bits off the black paint on the edge of the pillar and there are white spots showing through. I asked the guys at an Autobarn shop but they could find no references about the correct shade of black. Getting off the thread, but still a pillar issue; inside there is a grey plastic cover trim over the seat belt upper mounting that also needs replacing. I have never seen this problem before but whoever had the car before me has managed to wear a groove in the plastic from pulling the belt out. It looks like another trip to the wreckers for me.

OK. I just visited my panel beater on an unrelated matter and he advises that the black bits can't really be touched up. They are, as HLC indicated, moulds. Moreover, they are powder coated aluminium moulds and if you try to paint the chipped bits it just breaks down the coating around the bit you've painted.
I've ordered a new one for the drivers door. Part number ERF20554A, cost $37.40 + GST. Mine's a series 2 Ghia. you may want to check yours is the same part. |
