hey guys
i put some new rotors and pads on my S1 lane yesterday and took it for a drive the brakes were EXTREMELY spongy and didnt firm up very much at all... so i went to bleed them and when i went to do the front left ... no fluid would come out.. i took it for a drive after doin the bleed of the others and it was still very soft:( the car DOES NOT pull to the right so there is definatly fluid getting to the left brake caliper and working.. but it jsut wont come out the bleeder hole. what happens when you entirly screw the nipple out of the caliper?? will fluid come pouring out?

You would only know the answer if you drive high K cars over dirt roads. The centre of the bleeder valve (the thing you unscrew) will be chockas with dirt.

well i dont drive cars over dirt...
so its chockas with dirt.. alrite.. will sus it out tommorow neways

Did the resevoir become empty whilst bleeding them?
You may have air in the ABS part of the braking system. Not sure how you bleed the ABS module though, only know when replacing the complete unit it has to be filled with fluid and bled before connecting to the rest of the system. You might be lucky and it will only be the bleeder hole blocked. If you undo the bleeder screw completely brake fluid may dribble out slowly unless you put your foot on the brake, which of course pressurises the system. Good luck!!! |

it didnt empty no..
just NO fluid came out of the front left bleeder nipple.. so have to sus it out tommorow

The nipples become blocked. Both mine were like that.
Drown it in crc/rp7, leave it for a minute or two, then have a poke down into the nipple with a peice of metal wire and see if that clears it up. When done, give it a good blow out with an air gun. If it doesn't, then the nipples gonna have to come off and be cleaned

Just take the nipple off the caliper and clean it. While the nipple is out fluid will slowly trickle out the rotor but you'll lose stuff all fluid. Use a wire rod to clean out the hole in the nipple, if you have an air compressor a good blow out will help too. Don't try to clean them on the caliper, you just risk pushing dirt into the caliper. Also, don't touch the pedal while the nipple is out, otherwise you'll end up shooting fluid out the caliper.
After cleaning them, try to find some caps for them to keep them clean for next time.

the nipple was blocked!! removed it then shoved wire in it etc to clean it... now works fine...
but the pedal remains spongy.. going to take the car to a brake shop n get it sussed out
