Default How steep is this?

Got a price today from a Ford dealer for an O2 sensor for my I6... $410!!! Is this fair dinkum?

Will be asking Repco & Autobarn tomorrow.

same here I done the ring around myself the other day and got quotes from all of the usual places including ford, and the ranged from $207.45 to $95.00

ended up getting mine from the guy on ebay for $60.00 delivered it should be here today or tomorrow, and mine is way over due as well like 150k

His site says "These items wear and need to be used as a service item. As a general rule 1&2 wire oxygen sensors need to be replaced every 50,000kms and 3&4 should be replaced every 100,000kms."

AFAIK my car still has the one it was born with... 315,000km later. Maybe I should invest in one to reduce my expenditure on catalytic converters :

after how many k's should you change the 02 sensor? could it be possible an old o2 sensor could be reason for a rough idle?

According to the info I quoted in my previous post, 100,000k's. It can make your idle rough as it stops trimming the mixture, but there are other reasons for rough idle. Check out http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=115338

Cheapest one I could get today was $145 from Repco, a lot better than $410. Worth the investment to look after the new cat. Will keep the eBay bloke's details as the wife's car has just ticked over 90,000km and will likely need a new one soon.
