Default What Grinds Your Gears?

Idiots on the road grind mine.

I was just coming home from downtown surfers, coming up Ferry rd in Southport QLD and I was going 70kms.
The zone is a 60, but I guess the tool behind me figured i wasn't going fast enough and decided to ride my tail end and flash his high beams at me. I had to turn left ahead so I couldn't really go anywhere as I was stuck in the right lane waiting for an opportunity to move.
So i give him some brakes. Guess he didnt like that, so he sped up and passed me and tried to cut me off. I'm not worried about that, just the fact that my speeding 10km's over apparently wasn't fast enough and he decided to ride my tail end and flash his high beams.

I think it was an older ford also, the ones with the funny tail light cover looking things?

The guy looked like he wanted words, too bad i was turning...

Thats what Grinds My Gears. Idiots.

I hope he's a forum goer and finds this thread. F'n goof.
/Rant

Sorry if this in the wrong section... its car related.

Easy answer as the dic.... is just getting his rear bumper inline with your front turn into him...will spin him out big time and you go on your way.

LOL, actually that had crossed my mind as he was pulling in front of me and almost clipping the car in the other lane.

i wouldn't have the guts to do that.

I hate it when people do 20km/hs under the limit on a single lane road in both directions in peak hour. Also annoys me in off peak but I just drop the gear and let the turbo do it's job when the other way has a gap.

Another pet hate too! Then they slow down again. I won't have this trouble any more when I head down the coast this summer. I will overtake them and be long gone!

Camry's, chinezz in Honda's, women in 4wd at around 8am and 3pm, Shieks who say the darndest things, Hyundai's, Holdenwoo's, the state of our roads............ I could go on forever. But when asked about what grinds my gears I always remember the Peter Griffin line from the Stewie Griffin story "I'll tell you what grinds my gears, you america.....***** You"

What about on a two lane same direction road when one person in the left lane is doing under the speed limit and then the person in the right lane takes 20 million ks to overtake whilst everyone behind them is growing more and more impatient. Peak hour is even worse when this happens. I regularly have to do 60km/h in a 100km/h zone due to this.

Yeah that is annoying too. If it's a single lane road the person behind just should bear it but if its multi lanes they always have the option to pass but some people don't like to take up on that.

Lol I've had people overtake me in 50km/h zones whilst going down the coast because I was on the limit.

Hell I wanted to do 60 or even 70 but due to NSW BS demerit point scheme, double demerits would mean I would lose my licence.

The funniest thing was that it was a Ford Ka and I smoked it at the next hill anyways :P Whoever designed that monstrosity needs to be shot!

I have particular distaste for those lancer/hyundai punks (with the sport exhausts and spoilers) who act like they own the roads. Lol

What grinds my gears is people who when they make an error, (even possibly a life threatening one) start laughing!... This is SO prevalent amongst our Asian & African friends!

That definitely grinds my gears. It used to happen to me all the time when I was still on my Ps. I'd slow down as well... but mainly because I wouldnt be able to slam on my brakes if I had to.

Another thing is when people cut me off. I blast my horn at them and their passenger leans out their window and starts hurling abuse at me because I wasnt grateful for them nearly running me off the road and into a lamp post or onto the footpath killing pedestrians.

Same here. Thats what i did to this guy. Its funny getting people all upset on the road, specially when it's their fault in the first place.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I think there's some sort of power booster fitted to magnas & camrys which makes them a special for doing this type of thing.

Tailgaters in general s***t me off to no end. I got rear ended in late August because of two morons tailgating in cars with bad brakes (late 80s Charade and late 90s Camry). The great bit is, both their cars were write offs... the Fiesta needed a new rear bumper (plastic). I was actually holding back laughter after inspecting the damage.

Slow drivers in the right lane.
Drivers who do about 50 on a freeway on ramp.
Drivers who drive slow in the right lane on a freeway.
Drivers who don't indicate.
Drivers who pull out infront of you, then drive at snail pace.
Female P Platers.
Magna drivers, Camry drivers, rep mobiles.

The list is endless.

ummmm most people in general on or off the road, rotaries with loud exhausts, people that try beat you too a merge when they clearly have no chance at all, people that high beam you for no apparent reason, people that shout abuse because you drive a ford, cannons, spinners, people that hog onramps by driving too slow, people that drive well below the speed limit, tail gaters, alot of truck drivers, people that try push their way into a give way merge, people that speed in school zones, people that tailgate high beam you and beep and carry on when behind you doing 40 in a school zone during nominated hours to name a few :thebirds: .

I know for fact my reflexes (reaction times) are not as good as some other peoples. You know the theing about leaving a 2 second gap between you and the car in front? I try to increase it to 3 seconds for my reason above, what grinds my gears are people that constantly weave through traffic lowering my saftey buffer, only to find half an hour up the road this same car has only just arrived at its destination only marginally quicker than you but in all thier hurry they made jepordiesed everyone elses saftey with thier antics.

  • People that ride push bikes on the road and hold up traffic.. If you can't do the speed limit,, get off the forking road!
  • People that start making a right hand turn out of an unlined side street before the intersection.. So when you want to turn into said street some turkey burger is on an angle half into your lane..
  • Doodleheads that do their grocery shopping or toilet stops at a servo without moving their cars off the pumps when they can clearly see the que of people lining up for gas...
  • Idiots that sight see or drive with the Melways open on their lap.
  • Impatient twats that drive in the faster right hand lane to gain two car spots when they need the far left hand lane to turn off a block down the road..
  • People that don't obey the unwritten rule of one for one when merging, both by not letting you in or by trying to double up when you do leave someone room
  • SMokey crapboxes
hmm grumpy bugger aren't I

I agree with all of yours, but this one really eggs me.
The Caltex I go to has a McDonalds attached to it. So they go pay for their gas, then walk through the store to the line up at the McDonalds. All the while we're waiting for them pull up or move out so we can get on with our lives.

Just reading all this is making me angry.......

My pet hate would be drivers who despite several flashing signs the size of small skyscrapers placed kms early, refuse to make any attempt to change lanes into one that ISNT blocked by construction work until their lane is totally populated by orange safety cones.
Then they ****y when the rest of us wont let them in at the front of the line.
Cnuts!
Saw one get nicked for nearly running over a copper as it was a major accident not roadworks.

Also cant stand idiots who MUST pull out in front of you, forcing you to brake hard, even though the gap was too small and there is noone behind you for as far as can be seen. Then they dawdle off at 20kmh.

Favourite is all the a$$holes who only use the middle of 3 lanes. They will tailgate each other for 50kms to avoid changing. Whole convoys of the dumb bastards every day on the Geelong-Melbourne Rd.
Is kinda funny watching them get angry at each other though.

On the western ring road (in Melbourne) one night in the right lane slowly overtaking a stream in the middle all doing 99kmh. This tosser in an EF or EL comes flying up my a*ss and starts flashing his lights before I even get clear of the traffic. He ends up tailgating me so close with his high beams on that I could see jack behind.
I do hate right lane junkies but in this case just decided to stay there and let him vent. We came to a 5 or 6 car length gap in the centre lane so he floors it and moves to undertake me.
A gentle caress of the throttle in the T boxed him in. My bad I know, but he didn't even give me a chance to yield left safely.
