Default Help!

Can someone please tell me that the GreenMachine is worth keeping and spending money on? I just got off the phone from Performance Wholesale - Spent $600 on fuel lines and fittings! Just fuel lines!

My credit card is sitting on the desk, smoking. My head is reeling. Argh!

Bloody cars... Who'd do it??

You know I still question the amount of money that fuel lines seem to cost... I'm astounded. I know that there's no cheaper way to do it, but it at least tells me that I won't be getting any fancy braided lines and spanky anodised connectors for my car... ever.

Seeing as you've spent so much on it already, it'd be just plain foolish to stop now, would it not?

Cars (old ones especially) do not exist to make you feel empty and your wallet happy - they exist to make you happy and your wallet empty.

I shall expand slightly...

300rwhp (ish - maybe more), lots of nice moving bits such as a very tough 351, 9 inch with 3.7s, rebuilt C4 with 3500rpm (?) stally, lots of electric toys, Centerline billet wheels, serious drinking problem... it's a lot of fun, that thing. Sadly I don't have an uptodate picture of it...

No, you should focus on finding new and inventive ways of spending more money on your large, unmoving, car.

so you're saying you don't want me to send any more helpful links?

btw, i tried accepting donations for mine, and as you know - it is also an immobile money pit, so it doesn't seem to work so good

I've emailed Newby for a price for a 6/71 manifold... Purely daydreaming - It'll be 10 years before I have that kinda dough to spend on her.

No.....of course it's not worth it.

It's an old car that is effectively worth nothing and one that you will be forever paying out big money to keep on the road.

$600 for fuel lines, WTF............only thing is what's the next thing that's going to need replacing?........where's that money coming from?

Do yourself a favour and get rid of it before it bleeds ya dry or worse still puts you into a lot of debt just trying to keep it going.

Old cars cost a lot of money to keep them running, the parts are scarce and hence suppliers can charge whatever they like for said parts and the cars themselves keep breaking as they just keep getting older.........it's a vicious cycle.

Controversial viewpoint from a Fiesta owner!

Whilst that is all perfectly true, I don't think there's many people on AFF who'd concur...

It is a terrible waste of money, but what would I be spending it on if I didn't have the car? Saving for a house is pretty much under control, I still eat...

I'd only really make a financial decision about cutting the car off if it started to encroach on my beer/cigarette budget!

I have to ask, why use a company that has $$$ in their name -any company with a 'go faster' sounding name charge accordingly.
Why not someone like Enzed, who will make any hose to size?

Enzed's quote was about 35% dearer, as were most of the suppliers I phoned. The only place that could beat Perf. Wholesale's price was a seller on Ebay, and they couldn't supply everything I need and deliver it free by COB today.

So apparently you can't judge a book by its cover!

A car like this can not be thought of in purely dollars and cents, its a spiritual thing, its a form of relaxation and enjoyment that no econobox can provide.
when your out on the open road, humming along on all eight, taking a long sweeping bend and looking towards the horizon while trees and road signs rush by in a blur youll understand, its a kinda zen type thing..

I'll go along with this.
I'm cranky with the ute at the moment because it is playing up, but when she's going good there's nothing that beats the feeling or sound of the 351..........

Not for me anyway!

P.S Lemme know what the blower setup is worth once you suss it out, I'd like one too!!

I have an idea for you Mr GreenMachine. Get a job with smciner1. I can guarantee you will have so much time off your head will spin, you get paid stupid money to do it, AND they offer overtime... with even more stupid money, so you can do whatever you want to your car... just like smciner1. . . (plus i can't say no, it's the xb, man!)

mwahahaha

That is a very funny comment really : I bought an XR6 BA for lots of money........I wonder what that is worth now its 18 months older!

Obviously never driven or been in a wild 351 with class!

You loose money on it ONLY when you sell it........So dont! From someone who has overspent to the absolute max......oh its worth it! :eclipsee_
