Default New model Falcon ES

Has anyone noticed the new model falcon ES?

Comes with 17s and Fairmont Dash?

seems like it will be a good deal!

Ford CAR not a dealer special.

Its a fairmont minus rear power windows and arm rest, flood lights, coloured mirrors and side strip

no leather hand brake either.

Thats about it I think

XT with euro sports pack from memory.

It's an option when you buy an XT.

Cheers

Oh, please tell me they're not re-hashing the ESP (European Sports Pack) by giving an XT some fancy bits on the inside, some extra plastic on the outside and not touching the mechanicals. Why don't they call it an SR2 or something instead?

It also comes with sports suspension, 17" alloys, 6sp auto and may also have stability control.

No, it's not a Falcon XT with more stuff, neither is it a Fairmont minus some stuff... it is a COMPLETELY new car, and worth getting excited about!

Its not a ESP, that was a model brought out late 06 which gave you alloys, six speed auto and esp.

This car on the other hand is the new SR model basically.

- 17 inch alloys
- spoiler
- reverse sensors
- dual zone climate control
- 6 speed auto
- ESP
- six stack cd player.

Should sell well at a premium of $250 more then retail on a standard 4 speed XT auto.

The lack of rear power windows in a car which has climate control is quite disappointing.

Taken from autoweb, looks good but the ghia for mine is still the greatest buy although this is very much a close second.

Falcon ES offers customers an enticing combination of sports, safety and technology features, coupled with outstanding fuel economy courtesy of the efficient ZF six-speed automatic transmission, all at an entry-level price.

The combined recommended retail price of the features on the Falcon ES is $8,000, but the special edition Falcon model will be available to retail customers for just $1,250 more than the RRP of the standard Falcon XT with a five-speed manual transmission.

For customers already considering the purchase of a Falcon XT with the optional four-speed automatic transmission, the additional cost of the ES package equates to just $250.

Key features on the Falcon ES include the six-speed automatic transmission, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), sports suspension and reverse sensing system.

On the exterior, a set of four 17-inch alloy wheels in a unique six-spoke design, along with a high arch rear spoiler and 'ES' decals, creates a clear visual differentiation from the Falcon XT.

Inside, the Falcon ES is fitted with the prestige Interior Command Centre (ICC) from the Fairmont, which incorporates dual-zone climate control, prestige audio system with six-disc in-dash CD player and large screen LCD display, and an XR leather-wrapped steering wheel.

A Falcon ES fitted with the optional E-Gas^ dedicated LPG engine will also be offered.

"Ford's line-up of special edition models represents outstanding value-for-money retail packages," concluded Mr Gorman.

"With a high level of additional features, they offer something special for buyers looking for a distinctive vehicle, both in appearance and functionality."

Whatever Ford does to the current BF falcon, it wont help with its sales. They can give it a few new features here and there, but the fact that its a dated design and looks like the base model wont do it any justice. Also, with the arrival of the Mondeo this year, interest on the falc will be very low. Ford better have something up their sleeves.

probably, as I understand it the majority of models (even XT's) come standard with manual but the auto is a no cost option, where the box on the paperwork asking for the otional auto is ticked by default unless the buyer un-ticks it, but the TRUE standard spec is the manual
