Default Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy

went and saw the movie lastnight. absolute classic.
was good to see something completely different to the action/horror/comedy movies we are usually offered.
anyone else seen it? what did you think?

not sure if I'm gonna see it yet... don't think it'll be as good as the series. And what's up with remaking old TV shows into movies??? Although Starksy and Hutch lived up to it's reputation.

I really enjoyed the fact that it was pretty close to the book. If you've read the book you'll know that that would have taken some effort too. Quite a cute story. I really liked it.

I have read the book, played the game on an Apple IIe, and watched the series on the ABC. I am still not convinced it will live up to expectation, think I will save my money and wait for the DVD

I remember the tv show and am currently rereading the books to my 9 year old daughter I've been a big fan of Hitch Hikers for years.

We want to finish it before we go off to see the movie - and I'm excited that people like it! :

I want to go and see this one, I'm just worried it won't live up to the original TV/Radio/Books...

I've been a big fan of Douglas Adams and his work (particularly HHGTTG) since I was a little kid.

Dellboy... it wasn't just 'the book', it was a trilogy of four books!

edit... that goes to you too, !Gn|T|0n !

I also love the Dirk Gently books. My missus can't understand them, oh well :

Yes, very Douglas Adams....

Here are a couple of gems from this much-missed Mac lover:

- I wrote an ad for Apple Computer: "Macintosh - We might not get everything right, but at least we knew the century was going to end."

- The Macintosh may only have 10% of the market, but it is clearly the top 10%.

Yep it's a trilogy in five books

1. The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy
2. The Restaurant at the end of the universe
3. Life the universe and everything
4. So long and thanks for all the fish
5. Mostly harmless.

I'm a big fan, I've got the books, the original radio show scripts (another book), the TV series on DVD, the original radio show on CD, and I've got most of DA's other works, "Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency" which is followed up by "Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul", and published after his death, "The Salmon of Doubt".

Another good book is "Last chance to see..." where Douglas Adams goes and visits animals all over the planet that are endangered.

And his books, 'the meaning of liff' and 'the deeper meaning of liff' where he names all those things in life with English towns. Worth a read, really funny.
