Statesman has been going to China for a while now badged as a Buick Royaum. I saw one there when I was there in Nov 05
On a related note, given all of the luxury additions in that car over and above the domestic Caprice, could we expect to see a high-spec Caprice later this year? Caprice V? Brougham? |

The Park Avenue, like the GM Daewoo L4X introduced last week in Seoul, is a rebadged Holden WM Caprice/Statesman, and as such, it shares the big Aussie sedan's 3,009 mm wheelbase. As we've seen in other upscale GM China products, the new Park Avenue is equipped for maximum luxury, with seat massagers installed for all four passengers, a navigation system, in-car entertainment pumped to LCD displays, and available Bluetooth integration. The only image available at post time is the one you see above, which shows the familiar Holden profile. We expect to see the car's full-tilt introduction take place next week at the Shanghai Motor Show.

Yeh I was wondering that too, R W. There's some really tasty looking luxo in these. Makes the Fairlane/LTD look even lamer....

At the moment Holden is exporting cars and Ford Oz is exporting R&D, eg. Fiesta sold in India was R&D'd here and elements taken into the updated European model as well, R&D for the next all-new Ranger (old Courier) with sales of 400,000+ and who knows what will come from Orion and also potentially LWB models...so it's not as "sexy" as cars loading onto boats but it could actually earn more dollars, especially as the $Aust keeps rising making our exports more expensive if you haven't protected/hedged the currency fluctuations or set prices in US dollars.
