Default E-Bay Car Part Prices out of control $2900 for wheel arch moulds

As with the price of cars parts are also going out of control.

How about these chrome wheel arch moulds for $2900.00 with 7 bids and nearly 4 days to go.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....tchlink:top:au

Wonder when 2nd hand mars bar wrappers will go up in price.

Thats the way it goes mate, when your car is worth well over 100k, the parts prices go up aswell, and these being NOS, try finding them.

A mate had some XA-XC coupe NOS 1/4 panels, 5-6k each, amongst other ford NOS 1/4 panels he has!!

Is there anything wrong with reproduction items?... I mean concourse originality is one thing, but thats a little excessive.

That is ridiculous.

I agree matt-chops, there comes a point where you have to wonder about it all, I mean seriously, if repro items look exactly the same then does it really matter; and on parts that are barely big enough to get a stamp on them!

Everyone is different some prefer genuine and some are happy with aftermarket. Its like some people drink coca cola and some drink hombrand coke.

Only the difference between the two is three dollars, not three grand!

What a croc…

Going by these prices that old HK petrol cap I found has to be worth $600.

As the old saying goes… A fool and his money are soon parted.

And then you all say the $800,000 for a GTHO is ok even though it is 15 times the price of a current GT that will thrash it.
Things cost what people will pay. If you pay too much then you are a fool. If you want it you will pay whatever you think it is worth, no more.

I am just really upset that a new Porsche Turbo is 5 times the price of my F6 when it has the same number of cylinders and actually LESS metal in the its construction. How can they ask that. Rip off bastards. They will never sell any........

To think I sold a HT GTS 308 2 speed auto sebring orange Monaro for $1,500 with books back in the late 80's. It seems that the prices for Aussie performance cars & parts are ridiculous.

Rip off for gaylord wheel arch trims, and their a Holden part. They were the first thing you pulled off (a car) once. Them and the side protection mouldings, over riders etc. yeah , my GXL has got the lot.

I worked for a guy who bought out a Ford and Holden dealership's NOS.
We had 1000's of pieces of cars. Panels, doors, badges, chrome, u name it he had it.
I remember seeing a box full of GT badges and also new GT dashboards.
This was 16 years ago, and I rmember him telling me that it was his retirement fund and that they would be worth heaps in the future. I was a 1st year mechanic and thought he was crazy and I hated having to carry and catalogue all the parts. In total it used up 400sq M of storage in dexion shelves. I know he paid no more than $20k for the lot. It would be worth millions by now if he has not sold it already.

This guys dreaming.

Hed be lucky to pull that price if it was painted up and put back together. Not to mention the rust that needs to be fixed, and the fact that its only a normal falcon and not a coupe/fairmont/futura.
