Put the new rear wing on a while ago and i am left with two stains that run the width of the boot from the double sided tape that used to hold down the old bobtail wing anyone got any ideas what to use to get rid of it, i've tried the tar remover and gave the boot a cut and polish but it is still there..

Try something like goo remover or bug and tar remover. Do you have a high pressure hose? If so, give it a pretty good going over with that at a close range but with a wide spurt of water (not just one single jet blast at it). That should loosen it up a bit, then wash it as normal, and some ScratchX or similar should take care of any marks it leaves behind.

Is it a stain in the actual paint?

Eucalyptus oil might work. Test it somewhere that's not obvious first though.

Try "Paint Doctor". You should be able to get it from SuperCrap Auto for about 10 bucks. Comes in a big tooth paste sorta tube. It's bloody magic. Removes scuffs, stains etc..

Peuty-- The stain is either side of where the tape used to be all traces of the double sided tape are gone and now just the stains which are dark in colour running the width of boot lid.
LG-- The old bobtail is sitting in the garage, are you interested in it? |

you could try and rub them out with 2000 grit w&D then buff it... It sounds like it is the clear coat thats tarnished.
